This is actually very useful, and intuitive at first, but I found it stressful on my left arm having to control it that way.Įffectively, instead of zooming, when you hold the trigger all the way down, it goes to the players preferred minimum sensitivity, slowing your aim down, and no trigger at all is the maximum sensitivity. Yah I've explored in some combination inputs, because quite frankly, I don't see why an input device with multiple analog input methods has to be limited to, "one input, one function."īut, some of it is tiring and still limited, for example: I attempted to create an FPS control scheme where the left analog trigger modifies the sensitivity of the right (look) joystick. So if you wanna do something really unusual, support them as well :P But they can only communicate by Bluetooth (even when connected by USB), they have a lower poll rate, and their gyros need recalibration more often. If you use something like JoyShockLibrary, which I put together to help with creating JoyShockMapper, you can access its gyro and accelerometer if you want. But it's also increasingly common for games to support the DualShock 4 natively, recognising it and showing its unique button symbols.ĭualShock 4 is really easy to work with, as it's recognised as a standard USB HID controller. ![]() Whereas for DualShock 4, I'm pretty sure there are drivers available to make it recognised as an XInput device, so you can make sure you properly support Xbox and other similar controllers without having to buy one. It's like having the best gaming keyboard and a tiny joystick instead of a mouse. They've got better sticks (but I don't think players notice) and triggers than a DualShock 4.īut they don't have gyro. Xbox One is a close second, because it and other XInput devices are probably the most widely used controllers on PC. Support it natively, AND use it to test Xbox controller support. ![]()
